White Oak Bark

Latin name is…Quercus alba

White oak bark is an antiseptic, astringent, stimulant, antivenomous.

As an Tonic white oak bark is a strong astringent that is used both internally and externally.

Internally… it may be used for diarrhea, dysentery, hemorrhoids, menstrual problems with excessive bleeding hematuria, internal hemorrhaging, low grade fevers, ulcerated bladder, goiter, neck problems, gallstones, and kidney stones.

Externally….it has been used for hemorrhoids, varicose veins, gargle/mouthwash for throat and mouth, leucorrhea, for burns, sores, skin irritations, bruises, injuries, swollen tissues, bleeding, and to strengthen a loosened tooth.

There is an caution… DO NOT apply to extensively damaged skin.
