Capsicum Frutescens

( Tabasco pepper )

Actions: circulatory stimulant, tonic, antispasmodic diaphoretic, gastric stimulant, carmintive, antiseptic, antibacterial, analgesic, use topically as a counterirritant and rubefacient.

Tabasco pepper is a spicy flavoring that has been used in Europe since the 16 th century to improve the circulation and combat chills. It is used as a Yang remedy, clearing the cold and then balancing Yin excess. The recent studies have shown, that it relieves the pain of shingles. In Ayurveda it is regarded as food for agin ( digestive fire ), it is termed rajasic, so an excess can lead to mental disturbance.

There is a caution, avoid in stomach ulceration, pregnancy, and breast feeding. Do not eat the seeds on their own.
