Pennyroyal Flowers in Bloom

Pennyroyal contains a key volatile oil that has proven to be helpful to prevent gas in the stomach. A pennyroyal tea can be made (and taken a few days before menstruation to help to relieve suppressed flow. It can be taken to help with cold and flu relief. It has several properties that are similar to peppermint and can also be used as an insect repellent.
Pennyroyal has been used in the past to induce abortions, but has caused serious health problems when used in that fashion. Pennyroyal should not be taken during pregnancy!
