Recipe of the Day: Spiced Tea Cakes


Spiced Tea Cakes
You can make these as spice cakes, or plains. If you want plain cakes then remove the cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg.

Ingredients:
1 2/3 cup flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
2/3 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp nutmeg

Directions: (Preheat oven to 400 degrees F)
1. Mix flour, baking powder and salt together
2. Cream shortening with sugar until fluffy
3. Add eggs to shortening and sugar
4. Add flour to milk slowly until well mixed
5. Add flavoring
6. Fill greased cup-cake pans 2/3 full
7. Bake 15-18 minutes or until tops are evenly brown
