Flaxseed (Linum usitatissiumum)

Also known as Linseed, flaxseed is best known for its use as a laxative. It is very gentle and contains high amounts of fiber. It is a soothing herb and helps with calming upset stomachs, intestinal tracts and for sore throat. It is also beneficial for the heart as it contains high amounts of Omega-3 fatty acids which helps with high blood pressure and high cholesterol. It is also recently been discovered that flaxseed is a helpful cancer fighter, particularly in breast cancer.
