Herb of the Day: Coltsfoot

Coltsfoot is often used as a remedy for coughs and other respiratory problems. The natural constituents of coltsfoot make it an excellent expectorant. It is a mild herb and is soothing to the mucus membranes. Similar to horehound, it is also soothing to the throat and lungs and aids the brain’s coughing mechanism.
Coltsfoot contains a high level of mucilage and saponins which disinfects and has anti-inflammatory effects on the respiratory process. Often combined with horehound and marshmallow, coltsfoot is one of the best cough and cold remedies. Works best when used as a tea.

Vitamin A
Vitamin B12
Vitamin B6
Vitamin C
Vitamin P

Aids with:
Asthma, bronchitis, catarrh, chills, colds, coughs, diarrhea, emphysema, hoarseness, Inflammations, lung problems, mucus, pleurisy, pneumonia, swellings, tracheitis, tuberculosis, whooping cough.

Note can aggravate high blood pressure, small doses opens the bronchial tubes but large doses close them so be careful you do not use large doses, do not use as a tincture use only as a tea
