Herb Recipe of the Day: Herb Salt (Homemade Mrs. Dash)

For those of us that have high blood-pressure, salt isn’t very good for us. The unsalt products aren’t that great for you either. (They are usually made from potassium, and it can be bad for you if you take too much.) Mrs. Dash is another alternative, but there is always at least one herb that you just don’t like.
So I have a simple alternative that tastes great and is easy to make. You can even call it Grandma’s Salt (just kidding)!

Use the dried herb. You should have most of these in your cabinet anyway
3 tbsp dried basil
2 tbsp savory
2 tbsp celery seed
2 tbsp sage
2 tbsp sea kelp or seaweed or both (these will have a little salt, but it is minimal and a natural sea salt which is much better for you anyway)
1 tbsp marjoram
1 tbsp thyme
1 tsp powdered sassafras (okay you probably don’t have this one in your cabinet, but you can get it from a health food store.)

If you have a coffee grinder, this works the best, but a blender or food processor will do just as well. Put all of the dried ingredients in your mixer (blender/grinder) and blend until well mixed and nearly powdered.
Put into a shaker that has larger holes than your traditional salt & pepper shakers and use freely!
